When we were Children

When We were Children
When we were children words were coloured
(harlot and murder were dark purple)
And language was a prism, the light
A conjured inlay on the grass,
Whose rays to-day are concentrated
And language grown a burning-glass.

When we were children Spring was easy,
Dousing our heads in suds of hawthorn
And scrambling the laburnum tree -
A breakfast for the gluttonous eye;
Whose winds and sweets have now forsaken
Lungs that are black, tongues that are dry.

Now we are older and our talents
Accredited to time and meaning,
To handsel joy requires a new
Shuffle of cards behind the brain
Where Meaning Shall remarry colour
And flowers be timeless once again.

Synesthesia at the theatre

"Due to popular demand, The Whisky Taster has been extended to play until Saturday 27th February

Barney and Nicola are advertising wonder kids. They win accounts with wit, charm and a secret weapon - Barney's ability to feel, smell and taste colours, and to translate these sensations into words.

Lately Barney has been finding things far too colourful and wishes his full throttle London life was more black and white, but Nicola is hell bent on winning accounts at all costs. When the two hire an old Scottish Whisky Taster to help them with a new campaign, his strange wisdom slows the Londoners to a stop, just as the deadline looms.

A technicolour story about seeing things too clearly in a city that never stands still.

James Graham won the Catherine Johnson Award for the Best Play 2007 for Eden's Empire (Finborough). His previous plays include Little Madam and Sons of York at the Finborough, where he is Writer in Residence; Tory Boyz (Soho Theatre) and suddenlossofdignity.com (Bush).

Please be advised, this play contains real cigarretes cigarettes" Taken from the Bush theatre site: http://www.bushtheatre.co.uk/production/the_whisky_taster/

Sandhi Schimmel Gold

Sandhi Schimmel Gold says:

"Every number, letter & musical note is a color.

I think when I approach a new piece, I rotate some kind of color wheel in my head to create absurd color combinations. I don't know how NOT to be a syn, so it is hard to say how it is different. I suppose I experience everything in color."

She also experiences eidetic imagery, which is similar to photographic memory.
