Call for Papers

The 12th National American Synesthesia Association, Inc. conference will be hosted at Harvard on October 6 – 8 by Dr. Takao Hensch, Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology and Professor of Neurology, and made possible by the Board Members of the ASA, Greta Berman, Edward M. Hubbard, Daphne Maurer, Lawrence E. Marks, and Carol Steen. 

The Board Members of the ASA invite the submission of abstracts from individuals wishing to make a presentation on any of the following: a scholarly paper, a discussion of creative aspects of synesthesia, a reading, a presentation of visual artwork, audio compositions, or video presentations. If you are interested in being considered for a presentation, please submit an abstract, no longer than 250 words. 

Please include your name, e-mail address, telephone contact number, and a short resume (no more than two pages) or web-link to same. The number of presentation slots will be limited, so there is no guarantee that a submission can be accepted. Individuals are urged to attend even if they do not intend to make a presentation.  

Please also list any audio/visual equipment, including podium and microphone, you might need for your presentation. Please plan to limit your presentation to 20 minutes (not including an additional 5 minutes for Questions & Answers) in length.  

Our abstract review board is representative of the diverse interests, talents, and approaches to exploring and experiencing synesthesia. It includes artists, linguists, historians, and scientists, some of whom are synesthetes themselves. 

DEADLINE for Abstract Submission: July 7, 2017.  

NOTIFICATION will be on or before July 25, 2017

May 2018: 6th International Conference on Synaesthesia, Science and Art

The Artecitta Foundation has begun planning its 6th international Conference on Synaesthesia Art and Science. 

It is expected to be held in Spain, May of 2018.

Synaesthesia and Cross-Modal Perception: International Conference, Dublin 21-23 April 2016

The UK Synaesthesia Association is now inviting submissions to attend the meeting entitled “Synaesthesia and Cross-modal Perception" 
organised by Kevin Mitchell and Fiona Newell in conjunction with the UK Synaesthesia Association, to be held in April 21st-23rd, 2016. This meeting will take place in the Institute of Neuroscience, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.
The aim of the meeting is to provide a forum to present and discuss the latest findings on cross-modal perception and synaesthesia. We aim to include scientific input from many different disciplines, with a variety of perspectives from molecule to mind, relating to cross-modal perception. Of particular interest is to elucidate the cross-modal processes which underpin synaesthesia, and to use synaesthesia as a model to unravel the conscious processes that are triggered by cross-talk between the senses.

Contributions are welcome on any topic relevant to cross-modal processing, sensory substitution, multisensory integration and synaesthesia, including first-hand accounts of synaesthesia.

This meeting will be hosted in Trinity College Dublin: Founded in 1592, Trinity is Ireland’s top ranked university. As many of you will be aware, George Berkeley is a former Fellow of Trinity College and whilst he was here he penned his famous essay entitled ‘A new theory of vision’, the contents of which are still relevant to current research on cross-modal processes. The College itself is also ideally situated in the centre of Ireland’s vibrant capital city. The city of Dublin has a long history of being the world-leading venue for significant cultural and scientific events.
The meeting is being  held in conjunction with the UK Synaesthesia Association (www.uksynaesthesia.com), the world’s first organised association for the synaesthesia “community”, including researchers and synaesthetes themselves.
